Aida Fuentes-Rivera has a distinguished 27-year career with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board. Prior to her current role as Environmental Toxicologist, in which she has served since 2004, Aida worked over the years in several roles including Senior Environmental Science Specialist, Environmental Science Specialist, and Junior Environmental Science Specialist. A central focus of her position is the implementation of regulations for hazardous waste combustion on the island of Puerto Rico. Aida is a Licensed Chemist in Puerto Rico and she has served as Environmental Science Specialist at the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico's Environmental Quality Board (PREQB), since January 1988 to present. Some of her key strengths are dealing with Hazardous Wastes Incinerators, Site Remediation, Adverse Human Health Impacts from Environmental Risks, Observation of Emission Stack Tests and CEMS Performance Tests. Aida always perseveres, remains focused and is passionate about the field. Ms. Fuentes-Rivera participates in the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry - IUPAC and the Colegio de Químicos de Puerto Rico (Society of Chemists of Puerto Rico). She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico and received her Masters of Public Health from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where she was granted an Opportunity Award. She was also named Environmental Technician of the Year - 2002, at the PREQB. She was also published in Chapter 2: Sampling and Analysis of Hazardous Wastes for Toxic Pollutants, Hazardous Waste Measurements with Lewis Publishers, Inc. in 1991.
