I am very, very happily married and grateful everyday for a husband whom I lovingly refer to as McGeeker. He's the ultimate cross of a computer whiz with McGyver; equal parts braun and brains. I found the love of my life and I'm so, so honored to be his wife. He is the ultimate supportive spouse in all my endeavors. I am blessed.
16-20 Years
Honing my marketing skill set for more than 16 years, I have worked on both the corporate side in directorship roles for major restaurant brands in the fine dining, casual dining and dining & entertainment segments. I've also enjoyed the role as contractor and/or subcontractor for full-service creative agencies, in a supervisory role for clients in the QSR and fast-casual segments. As a result of time spent on both sides of the equation, I've developed a unique perspective and the leadership skills necessary to bring together powerful teams who enjoy working together, are able to innovate, forge creative paths others will follow, and ultimately grow sales. I have an affinity for entrepreneurial, turn-around and non-profit environments. During my career, I've been blessed with great opportunities to learn and develop into a restaurant-industry and food-marketing expert. And then in July of 2013, EVERYTHING changed. My beautiful mother was injured by a faulty medical device called Transvaginal Polypropylene Mesh. By mid 2013, she had deteriorated to the point she could no longer walk and became bedridden, with severe pain and other life-altering symptoms. No amount of time, love, empathy or research improved her condition. That's when I decided to get involved at the governmental, legal and medical levels to figure out how this injury occured under the FDA's watch. Now I am a Patient Advocate, a published writer and blogger at: www.themeshwarrior.com. Life has never been the same since my first story was published, When Family Members Suffer - Watching a Loved One Hurt by Transvaginal Mesh: http://tinyurl.com/oq99xcx I continue contract work for my first career and passion: marketing all things food, but I also now devote significant focus to advocacy for my mom and the tens of thousands of others through my nonprofit organization, The Mesh Warrior Foundation for the injured. I attribute my success to my conviction, action, and concern for women. Publications the The Mesh Warrior Foundation for the injured has been featured in include: The New York Times, Texas Tribune, WFAAI, ABC Dallas, Lakewook Advocate, and Dallas Observer.
