With over 40 years of experience in her field, Alison Barrows-Young is an accomplished painter with her own studio, website and blog, alisonbarrowsyoung.com and brokendishsisterhood.com. Coming from a family of artists, Alison considers visual language to be her first language and is skilled in abstract and expressionist landscapes, figurative work, and visual communication.
Alison holds her Master's degree in Fine Art from Florida Sate University as well as a Master's in Education from Concordia University. Also a powerful speaker, Alison frequently holds workshops and speaking engagements on her expertise. In 2018, she published Paintings of the Pacific Northwest, a book of her work. Moving forward, Alison plans to gain more recognition and to do more speaking on subjects that are important to her.
When not engaged with work, Alison enjoys hiking, animals and cooking. She also donates time and resources through Artists For Peace, Vivid Arts Network, Act Blue, and Amnesty International.
