Juris Doctor and Masters of Dispute Resolution- Pepperdine University School of Law, 2015; Master of Arts- Sociology- Western Kentucky University, 2010
Ana Carinena is Co-Founder and Executive Director at LA Villa FC in Pasadena, California. Ana is a recent graduate from Pepperdine School of Law where she pursued a Masters of Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution. In 2010, she received an MA in Sociology from Western Kentucky University. Her primary interest is in corporate law with a focus on business planning, corporate governance and tax issues, including those relating to nonprofit corporations. LA Villa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit California corporation organized for the purpose of supporting women's soccer in Southern California. The club has over ten teams playing in multiple leagues all over the greater Los Angeles area, including the WPSL, the only semi-professional league in the US and the highest level of play in California. Given the instability of the women's soccer industry in the US over the last decade, LA Villa currently offers over 200 women in Los Angeles with numerous opportunities to play. Moreover, they serve as a "bridge" for many college players and recent grads who are pursuing soccer as a profession, giving them a place to develop and play as they find a way to move up into the professional league. The club is focused solely on eradicating the boundaries adult women soccer players face in their pursuit of playing a game they love—boundaries that have been institutionalized because the industry has been structured to cater to men.
