Dr. Ann Avitabile is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology. With over 25 years experience in her field. and an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of the New York University School of Medicine, she subsequently completed an internship in internal medicine at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center - Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, followed by her pathology residency at New York University Medical Center. As part of her cytopathology training, she completed a tutorial in fine needle aspiration cytology at the prestigious Karolinska Universite in Stockholm, Sweden. As an American Cancer Society Fellow, she completed her fellowship in cytopathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she also served as Assistant Instructor in the School of Medicine's Department of Pathology. Prior to her arrival at CBLPath, Dr. Avitabile was on the pathology staff at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City for 22 years, serving the most recent 19 years as Corporate Director of Cytopathology. She remains active in teaching cytopathology and has published several articles on the subject in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Avitabile is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and a member of the American Society of Cytopathology, the International Academy of Cytology, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the New York Pathological Society and the New York State Society of Pathologists.
