Special Tribute to my Family
A special thanks to my Mother and father for providing me with a threshold of wonderful memories and adventures. You motivated me to be all that I could be and instilled in me to “Do unto others as I shall have them do unto me” Your spiritual values were massive and made a big difference in our upbringing. You taught us to always stand for something to avoid the pitfall of falling for anything-I understand this motto now more than I did growing up and attribute your persistence, vigor, and supportive tenderness to everything that I have become today- Mom, watching you raise my 12 siblings, Rose, Eddie, Patty, Linda, Ray Charles, Milton, Cathy, Rita, Robert, Hayden and Emma, whom we tragically lost to bone cancer in 2007, is a true testament that you were “One” of God’s chosen one, and a strong black woman. To my dad, I loved you more that life and I know you are enjoying heaven because you were the best Dad ever and had the kindest heart of any human Saint that walked the Earth.

BIOGRAPHY
Barbara Murray has been an educator for over 31 years. Barbara inspires children to find their place in the world by developing an appreciation for poetry. Despite the many hardships and disasters which she has been faced with, including two accidents in 2008, one of them a near fatal car crash, she has used her circumstances to write a book called "Poetic Thoughts In the Keys of Happiness,” Nurturing Inspirations for Every Woman," which is being sold on Amazon.com.
Barbara’s love for math and writing was strongly reflected in her classroom. Seven of her students’ writings were selected to appear in the Anthology Poetry Encyclopedia for Young Authors, 2001-2002. She has written and incorporated numerous Grant proposals for the benefit of “At Risk” students at Grant Elementary School, Carol Robbins Elementary School and Girls in Transition (GIT), a neighborhood community based program for minority girls from eight to fourteen years old.
For the past twenty five years she has been actively involved in student’s activities, committees, staff-oriented activities, and community involvement, while completing her MBA degree at Houston Baptist University in an accelerated (Masters on Line Program) in 2002. Barbara has attended a consortium of NCTM, Math Conferences (National Conference of Teachers of Mathematics) that engage teachers in active workshops and hands-on seminars to improve student's proficiency in mathematics.
