Second specialization in Poetry
Belen Washa is a native speaker of Spanish and has 17 years of experience teaching all levels of Spanish at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Belen directed the Study Abroad Program in Costa Rica twice during her tenure at St. Cloud State University. She participated in Departmental, College and University committees, advised major and minor students, published books and several articles, and presented papers in Japan, South Korea, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, and Puerto Rico. Belen was also selected 5 years in a row to participate in the annual reading and scoring of the College Board’s Advance Placement Examination in Spanish. She also taught Spanish in Puerto Rico for 8 years. She retired from St Cloud State in 2008. Right now, she is writing a short story book and researching the poetry written by women in Latin America.
