Personal Information
Caroline Marshall is the Cyber security Program Director at Network Rail. The company owns and operates the rail infrastructure in Great Britain, with the aim of delivering outstanding value to the UK Taxpayer. The company’s business activities range from planning and delivering train paths through operational signaling systems, maintaining the physical infrastructure assets that make up the railway, managing a significant property portfolio and a plethora of back office functions that help us to administer our business and support our employees, customers and stakeholders.
Caroline set up a £29m major change program to deliver end to end cyber security capability in Network Rail. This program included the development of policies, procedures, tooling, BAU protection activity, SOC and BAU teams to respond and triage threats and attacks. Taking a holistic approach, part of the program was to address the cultural and business wide change activities to ensure 37,000 people are aware of the cyber risks and understood the impact to the railway, aggressive timescales taking capability from zero to aligning to BSI PAS 555, a good starting point. Caroline received a BA in Business Studies from the University of Central Lancashire.
