Catherine Chegwidden is an accomplished professional teacher and artist with over 30 years of experience. She first began her career in education as a teacher in the creative arts, teaching art, music, drama, and visual arts. She has also taught the history of architecture and arts. Catherine has pursued teaching as a career because she considers herself blessed with an incredible skill to relay creative ideas to her students. Following her passion for teaching the arts, she decided to begin a second career as an artist. Catherine discovered her niche while working on large mural works for hospitals and treatment facilities, where her work is considered to sooth and calm those going through painful treatments, emergency intervention, the mentally ill and for those elderly suffering from dementia among the most vulnerable individuals in communities. Catherine has also found herself volunteering to help schools and tribes in the various remote areas of Africa. There, she has worked with young people on mural projects. Her lovely murals have transformed spaces nationally and internationally for all to view. Catherine has the ability and the god-given talent to visualize and conceptualize her work into a finished product bringing pleasure to all. In addition a published author herself, she has also illustrated several published books for both adults and children. Catherine is gifted public speaker and educator in her field. She has spoken in as an invited guest speaker as well as conducting lectures at tertiary level. Nominated for national teaching excellence 1995.
