A leader in reactor safety standards, Cindy Rosales-Cooper is the Sr. Emergency Preparedness Specialist at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which regulates the civilian uses of nuclear materials in the United States to protect public health and safety, the environment, and the common defense and security. This mission is accomplished through licensing of nuclear facilities and the possession, use and disposal of nuclear materials, the development and implementation of requirements governing licensed activities, and inspection and enforcement activities to assure compliance with these requirements. Cindy is leading the Emergency Preparedness activities related to the high profile rule for Decommissioned Reactors at the NRC. In this capacity, she ensures efficiency is realized and implemented between the Decommissioning Rule and the Rule for Small and Modular Reactors. She is also a leader, responsible for over 100 operating and licensing commission's reactors. Her outstanding career started after grad school, where she developed a passion on international and foreign relations and worked in international relation departments to bring scientists around the world for collaboration on a variety of policy matters related to international activities, information technology and IT security, budget, small business and equal employment, human resources and training programs. She is proud to be part of, and instrumental, in a NRC Internationale agreement program and was Chief of Negotiation with China on nuclear safety. Outside of work, she likes to travel, read mysteries, and sings with her church group.
