Colleen Sherry is the Vice President of Exploration for High Ground Energy. She has been in her current position since July, 2015. The company is a private equity startup in the oil and gas industry, She has 4 geologists who report to her, works on administration and financial planning, due diligence and portfolio review of potential acquisitions including budget planning and ongoing reviews. Colleen attributes the key to her success to being open to opportunity, flexible, and willing to take chances, for example, she worked summers for the Chief Field Geologist of Geological Survey of Canada, while she was at his desk doing data entry, a geologist came in looking for him, she asked if she could help, he replied that he was looking for a female field assistant for a female scientist in the Canadian High Arctic, which she soon-after accepted. Colleen received her executive MBA from Cornell University, 2016, her MBA from Queen's University, 2016, and her MSc in Earth Sciences from the University of Ottawa, 1995. She looks forward to networking, especially with women in her industry who have achieved the levels she wants to get to, in a male-dominated industry. While she doesn't want special consideration because she's female, she also doesn't want to be discounted because she's female, and would like to learn how to handle that balance from others in male-dominated industries.
