Cynthia Yañez has been a tax manager at J.A del Rio y Asociados, S.C. for over 15 years after an impressive career as a certified public accountant in Mexico. She’s worked with clients from around the world, including the United States, Japan, the Netherlands, and Japan. She was chosen by her managers to begin the tax practice in her office, and now she’s grown to be the tax manager in charge of a finance and tax teams. She coordinates the work performed by each member in the accounting department and converts financial statements to the currency needed by each client; handles all matters related to tax compliance in Mexico, such as tax installments, tax returns, and informative returns; coordinates third-firm audits on their clients’ books, as well as transfer pricing studies. She provides tax consulting to their various clients and, as needed, suggests the application of tax treaties in order to avoid double taxation. In addition, she is in charge of reviewing deferred tax calculations. Cynthia has been a certified public accountant since 2006, after receiving that degree from Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon. She earned a higher degree in tax master and tax from AUNL in 2011. She became an English instructor from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey during her studies at AUNL, and she was the secretary of public education for one year after completing her studies at AUNL, simultaneously continuing her career as an instructor until the end of 2009. As a woman, Cynthia has faced different situations throughout her career, and she wants to share her knowledge with other women. She feels it is very important that professional women are carried with dignity and respect in today’s growing business world. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She attributes success to hard work and her team, and she appreciates her team’s work and respect. Cynthia says her future plans are to become an associate at her company.
