Debbie Espinet brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the interior design industry in Trinidad & Tobago. From as early as 4 years old, Debbie had a passion for redesigning houses in pre-school. Having worked in an aircraft engineering environment for 16 years, and marketing in the interior design industry over 20 years, Debbie has been able to marry all her skills by successfully designing and promoting high-end kitchen designs in Trinidad, Barbados and Grenada with complimentary training in Canada, USA, England, Germany and Italy. A graduate of the John S. Donaldson Technical Institute in Draughting and Graphic Design, she has also been accredited by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (DipCIM), London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Marketing and Management), and the Academy of Design – Trinidad. Debbie has also won local design competitions in the graphic design field – Institute of Marine Affairs and runner-up for the Unilever logo in the 1990’s. Working under the umbrella of MacFarlane’s Design Studios, her project has been featured in the one of the best known Caribbean magazines in 2014 - Island Life – issue 37. Working with the country’s most recognized interior design firm, she has produced many designs for clients from various industries – inclusive of restaurants, hospitality, retail, shopping malls, NGO’s, Leisure and residential homes and penthouses. With lots of hard work, self drive and a highly disciplined work ethic, Debbie had earned the status of Head designer for eight years, leading a team of young designers, project managers and CAD technicians. In 2016 Debbie established her own studio, and became Principal & Head Designer of Design Matters, with many commercial and residential projects throughout the country, collaborating with freelance team of designers, engineers, project managers and other professionals. In this capacity she spends up to 16 hours a day working on interior design projects, key operations and consultations. Her areas of expertise are in space planning, interior architecture and concept development. Debbie dreams of taking her services regionally to the wider Caribbean and the South American Markets. She attributes her success to the relationships she has built with clients and continues building those relationships. Debbie is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member, while at the same time, being an inspiration to young women who have limited access to opportunities.
