Deborah M. Leveille, PhD, RN, CNL is the Dean of Nursing, National Nursing Curriculum Committee Chair for Fortis College-Montgomery. She has served as the Dean of Nursing since October, 2017. Since her arrival at Fortis Montgomery she and her team have increased NCLEX pass rates from 35% to current 87.5% with all testers this year demonstrating competency with 80 questions or less - phenomenal! Her mother was an LPN, and she was always interested in science. She went into nursing as a second career after working as a medical malpractice paralegal in a prestigious law firm in downtown Boston. She specializes in teaching, nursing, leadership and improving the environment. She earned a PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Massachusetts, 2015. She is a member of the Nursing Honors Society, the American Nursing Association and Critical Care Association. She is also the chairperson for the National Nursing Curriculum Committee of a 20 campus college system. She will be speaking at a conference in Paris in July and Rome in October on curriculum development/nursing education, and has done numerous presentations. She would like to do more public speaking, and will be writing and publishing her teaching strategies. She credits her success to perseverance and having wonderful instructors. She is most proud of turning around the nursing program, and seeing students succeed is the highlight of her career. She is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
