Personal Information
Diana Stancu is an Independent Consultant for Safe and Secure Skies. She worked in the aviation industry for an extended period of time, having held positions ranging from legal advisor to head of unit. She also created a start-up business: Safe and Secure Skies, a consulting and training company based in Brussels for international and European aviation law, aviation safety and security, the EU satellite navigation systems.
She started her aviation career at the Romanian Aviation Academy as a legal advisor acting in the same time as an instructor for international aviation legislation.
She continued her career at the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority as an inspector in which capacity she was mainly organizing and conducting on-site audits/inspections, monitoring and follow-up activities and acting as a legal advisor for EU acquis communautaire and the Common Aviation Area.
Diana was later appointed head of the Air Operators Surveillance Unit with responsibility for the process of certification of the national air operators, performing safety and security inspections/audits, and assessing security, safety and quality management systems. She led her team to create operations manuals and procedures, to design and promote safety and security policies. She also acted as a legal advisor to the Director of the Flight Operations on the legal aspects.
In addition to the practical experience, she holds a range of diplomas and professional qualifications and certifications such as: a Masters in Air and Space Law (Leiden, the Netherlands, ICAO AVSEC Professional Management, ICAO AVSEC National Auditor/Inspector, ICAO AVSEC Instructor, IOSA auditor certification, Quality System Assessment, Audit Techniques, European AVSEC Quality Control.
