Divia Forbes has been a Public Health Analysts with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) since 2015, and has been a public health professional since 2001. In her current role, she researches and analyzes data on Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) diagnosis and surveillance in the US and develops a monitoring and evaluation plan for the National LTBI system. She is a member of the Health Equity workgroup for the Division of Tuberculosis Elimination within the CDC. She has also chaired different work groups such as the Diversity and Inclusion Council of the National Center for HIV/AIDS, viral Hepatitis, STDP and TB prevention for the CDC. Her family is full of people in medicine: her younger brother became a doctor and she had always had an interest in public health. Also, her mother was a minister who ministered to a community that was often in need of public health care education and support and her mother instilled the value of community service in her and her siblings. Divia holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Walden University, class of 2014, and earned a Master of Science Master in Public Health (MPH) specialized in Epidemiology from Walden University (2011). Her bachelor's was in Business Management & Administration, from Kaplan (2008). Looking ahead, Divia hopes to retire and then do more work in the community, especially related to children and youth and elders. She wants to follow in her mother's footsteps of community service and instill the same in her own children and grandchildren as a legacy.
