Haifaa has worked for IUCN over a period of more than 12 years beginning in IUCN’s Regional Office for West Asia, for Tabe' a Programme which spans 19 countries in the Arab States and the Middle East and then under a secondment to the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) based in Bahrain. Over this period, Haifaa has performed to a consistently high standard. She has excelled at delivering high-quality results under the IUCN Tabe’ a Programme, which is a partnership regional programme between IUCN and the ARC-WH driving IUCN’s work on natural World Heritage in the Arab States. Haifaa has extensive experience in capacity building and the provision of quality technical advice on all aspects of natural World Heritage in the region including state of conservation monitoring, protection and management, new inscriptions, strategy, interpretation and promotion, and working with local communities. Haifaa has been the driving force behind the successful Tabe’ a programme and has raised significant funding in support of the programme. Her knowledge of World Heritage and the Arab States regional context, drivers, political and actors is second to none. Her work through the IUCN secondment with the ARC-WH has been a model for regional cooperation on World Heritage. Haifaa has also been a valued active member of IUCN’s delegation to annual World Heritage Committee meetings. Haifaa’s work has also extended beyond World Heritage into more-broad based environmental and conservation issues. Now she is establishing a new organisation called "World Heritage for all", to serve the Arab Region to enhance its performance in the implementation of the World Heritage Conservation.
