Writing my first book Sings at her church Writing Poetry Painting for fun
I am married to my high school sweetheart, and a mom of five boys ages 15, 16, 28, 20, and 21. My 18 year old has an intellectual disability but is an awesome communicator. I also have four step children ages 15, 22, 22, and 28.
I am a hard working, dedicated, and dependable educator who loves working with people of all ages though my heart is working with students with special needs. I have interests in launching invention ideas that will solve some everyday problems as well.
More than 25 years
Education and training, management and marketing, and working with troubled youth.
Helen Gist has owned her business, VOC Enterprises LLC, for four years where she writes educational books and works with individuals with disabilities, thereby establishing life skills and training for them. Helen also works full time as a teacher and has copious experience working in special education. Helen holds her Master's degree in Education and Early Childhood Education from Ashford University as well as a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Marketing from The College of Westchester. Also a dynamic speaker, she does a lot of webinars related to teaching and engaging students in poverty. Helen also writes poetry and has been published at the National Society of Poetry. She is currently writing a children's book to deal with disabilities in the classroom and behavioral disorders. Moving forward, Helen sees herself providing educational leadership to both middle and high school and networking as much as possible with likeminded professionals. When not engaged with work, Helen sings at her church, leads the praise of worship, writes poetry, raises her kids, and cares for her mom. Also a passionate philanthropist, she mentors young boys in 9 through 12 grades with a program called Kudos.
