Irene Reyna de la Oss has been a translator and interpreter for over 32 years. On a daily she may translate for up to 12 hours. She translates and interprets for conferences, tech areas, medical areas and administrative areas. She says that originally she wanted to be a dentist and started studying translation to keep up with her English and improve it. However, she did not get accepted into dental school and stayed in the profession of translating. Irene has an Associate’s Degree in Translation and Interpretation from the Berlet School of Interpreters in 1987. She says the highlight of her career was being the lead interpreter for the automotive industry in Venezuela for 12 years and being the person they would call whenever they were having an event. Irene says the key to her success has come from doing the best that she can and loving what she does. In the next few years she hopes to continue with translation and broaden her horizons. She is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
