Jean Maraist Hartley has been with Accessible Hawaii since 2011. In her capacity as Director, she fund raising, project oversight, and also advocates for people with disabilities. She holds both a Masters and Bachelors Degree in Communications, and in her spare time, volunteers serving food to the homeless. She also conducts seminars speaking on issues related to disabilities. Jean has been published in 14 magazines, and has just self-published her first book, entitled "Go Beyond Coping with Disability; A Resource on the Big Island for Disabled Visitors and Residents", which can now be ordered from Lulu Press. The book is aimed at those who are disabled as well as their families and health care professionals. She hopes to benefit from being in the registry through networking, mainly to help promote her book. Her keys to success are having an attractive website to promote her book, and effective personal touch. Her next book in process will be titled "Voices of Disability". She currently resides in Hawaii, where she continues to advocate for those with disabilities.
