Jo-Ann Lautman is founder of Our House Grief Support Center and co-author of the novel “Tears and Tequila,” a story of love, loss, friendship, courage and, most of all, renewal; it tells of the healing that happens when you become part of a community in which everybody is missing someone. Jo-Ann has received the National Philanthropy Award from the Spirit of Giving Organization (1998) and has been featured in numerous publications, such as The Los Angeles Times, The Jewish Journal, Time Magazine, and People. Having worked in the psycho-social treatment of Hospice patients and families at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Jo-Ann began realizing that young people going through grief situations were often discounted by others because of their age. She saw the need for a community of young grievers and founded "Young Widows and Widowers” in 1980, which would later grown and evolve into what is now Our House Grief Support Center (1993.) The mission of Our House is to provide the community with grief support services, education, resources, and hope. Since 1993, Our House has helped thousands of grieving children, teens, and adults as they embark upon their journeys to hope and healing.
