After serving at the US Army Corps of Engineers, Karola Cochran currently works as Database Administrator for JGMS at NREL where she brings unmatched expertise in change management, strategic planning and database implementation to her role. Ms. Cochran holds her Bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of Maryland and a Master's in Information Technology Management from Capella University.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Cochran enjoyed success in a variety of industries including working as a bank teller, personal banker, supervisor in savings and loans, credit unions, and serving 8 years in the US Navy. She was also a travel agent and owned her own travel business. Often lauded for her work, Ms. Cochran received an Administrative Excellence Award from Federal Aviation Administration in 2012 and the Army Civilian Meritorious Service Award in 2017.
When not engaged with work, Ms. Cochran enjoys travel, hiking, inline skating and skiing. Also a passionate philanthropist, she is very active in her church and volunteers frequently at a family history center.
