Ms. Khitam Al-Utaibi started her career in education after realizing that her new country was not up to the same level as her home country. She received her MA in the Technology of Teaching in 1990, from the University of Jordan and has been employed in several different positions. In 2006, she founded her own firm to bring education to all the children of Jordan, and upgrade the education received. Khitam's vision for education is that Education will be decoded to: General Education from k-4 focusing on mastery of literacy, numeracy and a musical instrument. Following that multiple literacy’s for the 21st century, i.e. media literacy, social/emotional literacy, arts and creativity literacy; specialized education from grade 5-10 plus 2 years preparatory for either university or initiating their own business. University graduate and post graduate studies will be research focused based. Education formal systems are facing a huge challenge in accommodating the modern technology as well as the new practices and uses of mobile technology and social media in our daily lives from age 5 and up. Comparing between the existing formal education systems and the higher education that are the result of the industrial revolution in the eighteenth century and the knowledge economy requirements of the 21st century, we can identify the huge gap between theory and practice in the existing formal education systems as well as their growing disability to meet knowledge economy market demands. Our good deeds should be joined to pave the way for the millennia generation to master literacy and numeracy, lifelong learning and 21st century skills. Her career began as a University lecturer and educational technologist, school teacher in Ministry of Education, e-Learning Unit and Head Division at Secretary general office. She became iEARN-Jordan Representative in 2009. She led a number of hands-on training workshops for educators on iEARN and building 21st century skills through project-based learning, worked as Senior Education Adviser for the World Bank and other agencies and is the Assessor at KACE to date. In her own words, Ms. Al-Utaibi states, "If the work I'm doing did not draw a smile on my face, then it's not for me or I don't belong to it!" Ms. Utaibi says that her determination and desire to leave a legacy for education is what pushes her and is her key to success. She has the desire to create her own publishing company to create books that can be read and taught by teachers with little or no other training. She states that she is sincere about what she does and says, and desires that all students receive the best possible education. In her spare time, Khitam enjoys walking, reading, languages, food and travel. She conducts education and teaching workshops at no charge to better train teachers in and around the Jordan area, as well giving talks at international seminars. She speaks Arabic and English fluently and is in the process of learning Japanese and Spanish.
