Kirsten Clare Dilena is a Deputy General Counsel with a passion for building the in-house legal capabilities of major organisations through strategic organisational reform and dedicated mentoring. Kirsten has worked in the legal field since 1998 in the UK and Australia, including serving as the South Australian President and a National Director of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association. Kirsten began her career as an undergraduate with a prestigious law firm in the UK, she now practices in in-house roles. Under her management, her team excels in providing a full legal service including advising in areas of governance, compliance and strategy development as well as corporate and contracts law. Kirsten has excelled by taking advantage of opportunities as they arise and mentoring others to ensure the continuing excellence of her profession. She specialises in complex ICT and construction projects and has significant experience in managing the drafting and negotiation of contracts in areas of civil and defense technology, including performing the role of Board Secretary for Australia’s largest ever defense project. Kirsten works collaboratively with the other corporate functions including Engineering, Finance and Human Resources to understand the organisation’s priorities and adopts a facilitatory leadership style in structuring for success. Kirsten believes in the importance of trust and collaboration in building high performance teams and achieving excellent outcomes. She promotes organisational change to improve corporate outcomes.
