Ms. Linda M. Turnquest: Ms. Linda M. Turnquest was born in Sea Grape, Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama, Bahamas. She received her early childhood education at Holmes Rock Primary School and Mary Star of The Sea Catholic School, and her secondary education at Freeport Anglican High School. She continued her education and obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University Of Houston, University Park with a minor in Computer Science. Ms. Turnquest successfully passed the American Institute of Certified Public Accountant examination on her first attempt. Ms. Turnquest built a career in finance starting as a staff accountant at Chevron Oil Bahamas Ltd. a subsidiary of Chevron International Oil Company in San Francisco California, where she was afforded the opportunity to work in San Francisco. She later transferred to Bahamas Oil Refining Company (BORCO). During her years at BORCO Ms. Turnquest traveled throughout the U.S., and received numerous certifications in Management, Finance and Computer Networks. In 1997, she was hired by the Freeport Harbour Company/Freeport Container Port Limited, a member of Hutchison Ports Holdings Group, as Financial/Management Accountant. Ms. Turnquest was responsible for setting up and establishing the Finance Department for the Freeport Container Port (FPC) and was responsible for all aspects of its financial reporting and requirements. During her tenure at FCP she was seconded to Hutchison Westports in Felixstowe, England for six months. After her secondment in the United Kingdom in 2001, she was offered the position of Finance Manager at the Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited, and was challenged with setting up the finance department, and develop a computerized system for this greenfield site. During her career at Grand Bahama Shipyard, she remains a trailblazer. She is the first Bahamian, and first woman on the executive group, and currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer, and is second in charge at the largest cruise ship repair facility in the world. Ms. Turnquest has been a born-again Christian for the past thirty-three years, and is a member of Jubilee Cathedral where she currently serves as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. She is a past advisor of the Junior Achievement Program, a past Vice President, and Director of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, and is currently Treasurer for the Sunland Baptist Academy. Ms. Turnquest whilst not given birth physically to any children, she is a mother to many, and believes in strong family ties, to her nieces and nephews, she’s “Manty”. She lives her life on the belief that, “whom much is given much is required”.
