Since October 2013 Director of ITS MAKER, a Higher Technical Institute Foundation who promotes technical and scientific know-how with the objective of filling the demand for highly trained technicians coming from strategic sectors of the domestic economy.

Maddalena Suriani is the Director of Fondazione ITS MAKER. She has been for 2 and 1/2 years in current position. Fondazione ITS MAKER is involved in education training offering two-year post high-school courses to train high level technicians so as to contribute highly specialized competence and innovative skills to the mechanical. mechatronics, motor and packaging sectors. . The headquarters of the ITS MAKER Foundation is in Bologna but the Foundation operates in four local campuses in Bologna, Modena ,Reggio Emilia and Fornovo : She is in charge of: - projects supervision; - Staff management; - Budget control; - Communication; - Public relations with partners, stakeholders and public authorities. (75 partners, 44 are companies in the mechanical packaging sector, as well as schools/universities). She speaks at conferences and seminars about the Foundation and within her area of expertise on technical education. Maddalena attributes the key to her success to being very passionate, smart, and good at managing people while maintaining a long-term perspective. Outside of work, she donates to organizations that benefit children, especially students (such as a program to build a school in Nepal after earthquake) in countries that she has visited, including Nepal, Indonesia and Myanmar.
