Margherita Pillan is Associated Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Dipartimento del Design. She teaches courses in the field of Communication and Interaction and serves as Scientific Director of the Research Lab in Interaction and Experience Design within the department. She cooperates with TIM – Telecom Italia in a number of research projects funded by the company in the fields of Interaction and Experience Design, developing digital services for smart spaces, mobile apps, digital platforms for open innovation, interfaces for home automation, system based on wearable technologies, digital solutions for online and in store shopping.
Margherita conducts research on interaction design, communication, digital media, service design, social innovation, intercultural dialog, multicultural society, game design, procedural rhetoric, and design education. She is a member of the SIP Lab – Studies on Interaction and perception at INDACO Department, the DESIS lab of Politecnico di Milano, the international scientific committee of the revue Sciences du Design, the PhD Faculty at the Dipartimento del Design, and the scientific committee of the Course of Communication Design at the Design School of Politecnico di Milano. She is actively involved in the public and collaborative cluster within DESIS and serves as president of the Commissione Paritetica inside the School of Design at Politecnico as well as scientific reference for the Dipartimento del Design at the S-Cube JOL-Joint Open Lab founded by TIM-Telecom Italia at Politecnico di Milano.
