Marjory Hutchison de Medina has been an educator since 1980. Marjory has lived in multiple places in Europe (including Scotland and Turkey) as well as in Asia, where she has offered her services as a professor, mentor, coach, examiner, volunteer and public speaker. Marjory taught Adolfo Suárez, the first Prime Minister after Franco in the 1980's. She also taught three Secretaries of State. Marjory's first job consisted of volunteering in Laos during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1970.As an alumnae of St. Louis University, she has given back in very significant ways including her instruction in public speaking and literature. Marjory teaches post-graduate students as well as spouses (conyuges) of diplomats. She also serves as an examiner for diplomats in determining their readiness for speech delivery and formerly served as a an examiner for language interpreters. She is a linguistic expert and speaks English, Spanish, French, and Scottish. For five years, she has been a member of the Institute of Linguists and was voted the best teacher for the past five years at the Madrid Diplomatic School. Marjory also received a medal for long service with the Diplomatic School. In her career, she has spoken at countless conferences and is currently preparing to deliver the address at an upcoming commencement ceremony. She prides herself on her ability to work relentlessly with passion and precision, without losing her human touch. She strives to always be aware of the effect of her actions on others. A fun fact about Marjory- she is never afraid to be a little dramatic in the classroom (especially on Mondays). She plans to more thoroughly research feminist Scottish literature and Post-Colonial Scottish Literature to add to her legacy of contribution to the realm of education.
