Dr. Macarena Montenegro is a professional of nearly two decades currently serving as Senior Field Service Engineer for ABB Switzerland where she oversees the wide gamut of activity including motor maintenance for the mining industry. In this role, Dr. Montenegro prepares the maintenance plan and manages resources and tools as well as customer issues.
After studying chemistry, Dr. Montenegro decided to transition to the mining industry. She was called by ABB Switzerland to design a motor that was sold worldwide and was then offered a position at the company. Dr. Montenegro holds her PhD in Physics with a Specialization in Applied Materials from the University of Surig where she published copious research during her studies.
Dr. Montenegro wants to motivate other women to enter the technical field because the mining industry is a male dominated field and she hopes to incorporate more women into the field. She hopes to set an example as a single mother that anything can be accomplished if you never give up.
