Nancy Fusco is the first female Co-Chair of the Cochise Cowboy Poetry & Music Gathering. The company is a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping western heritage alive through music and poetry. The gathering is a 3 day event in February, which bring artists and guests from not only Arizona, but from all around the United States. It takes a year to plan the Gathering and currently Nancy is preparing for the 25th Annual Gathering, next February. Nancy help’s to oversee 15 committees, including the Western Heritage Schools Outreach Program which brings artists into over 30 schools, grades 3 through 12 to teach students about western heritage. Students are then encouraged to write poems for a poetry contest. After a blind judging, winners and honorable mentions are selected. Their winning poems are published in a book called Saddlebag of Poems and our top winners are invited to perform at the Gathering. The festival has won several major awards including Arizona's First Treasure, presented by the Governor and The Best Gathering in the Country awarded by True West Magazine. Nancy is proud to be part of such an important event.
