With over 16 years of experience as a teaching professional, Nekesha Thorpe oversees over 400 students and provides unprecedented instruction in literacy. A dynamic leader, she supervises junior teachers and serves as a teacher representative for the school board and the Jamaican Teacher's Organization. Ms. Thorpe brings passion to the improvement of her students and is known to help even very slow learners progress to reading 2 grade levels higher at a rapid speed. Ms. Thorpe received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Applied Social Relations from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2007. A lauded public speaker, she frequently gives lectures and presentations for school graduations. Moving forward, Ms. Thorpe hopes to gain international experience teaching in countries outside of her own and to collaborate with likeminded professionals in her field. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, swimming, surfing the internet, and often serves as a volunteer for the People's National Party in Jamaica.
