Patricia Castellanos is the only Professional Audiologist in Guatemala and is an internationally recognized professional in her field. She has received her PhD in Audiology and started her own clinic in Guatemala called Centro de Audición CEDAF. She has a Master's Degree from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC and her Doctoral Degree from The University of Florida.
She is also the founder of Sonrisas que Escuchan, -Smiles that Listen Foundation for people in Guatemala who cannot afford audiological services and works with the less fortunate in her country to gain the necessary care in the audiology sector. She is also a mentor for any other people looking to gain Audiology Practice knowledge and experience.
Her clinic ,The Centro de Audición started as a small organization and grew due to the dedication of Patricia Castellanos and her managing every aspect of the business. Her average day consists of working with patients and monitoring the quality of service and customer care at the clinic. They also provide diagnostic services, hearing aids and any other services that the patients may need. It is a national organization that mostly services Guatemala but also El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua on occasion.
She has publications in 2015 "Audiology without Borders", 2015 ENT NEWS, and chapter in a book published in 2011 Audiology in Developing Countries (CH. 10). In the next 3-5 years, Patricia sees herself expanding her business and Foundation, creating more jobs for women in her organization and expanding geographically.
