Patricia Nelson is owner of Nelson Family Law and practices province-wide, both in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, on all matters of family law. Her practise focuses on family law only which includes custody and access disputes, child and spousal support issues, equalization and property division, paternity matters, and changes to support and custody court orders. Mediation and arbitration are preferable dispute resolution models over traditional litigation strategies and her firm explores this avenue when appropriate. Throughout the years, Patricia participated in continuing professional development well in excess of the Law Society of Upper Canada's requirements. Patricia is a regular attendee at Peel Law Association (PLA) bench and bar forums. She visits high schools and Sheridan College throughout Peel Region where she presents on a variety of legal issues in family law. Her firm works with Humber College where they host and mentor Law Clerk students while they complete their co-op placement with Nelson Family Law. Patricia is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada (LSUC) and Peel Law Association (PLA). Patricia's publications include, "Building and Dismantling Court Cases Using DNA Evidence,” "The Use of DNA Forensic Evidence in Court Cases" and "Child Support in Short-Term Relationships" (Ontario Bar Association (OBA) conference).
