Patty Huang is the Senior Manager for Microsoft. She has worked in Taiwan and the U.S. for various powerhouse companies of the Technology sector for the last 14 years.
In 2002, Patty joined HannStar Display as an LCD Electronics Designer, Electronics Design Division where she was also given the role of Lead High Resolution Display Model Development Engineer and designed LCD Panels and key components: T-controller, Driver IC, PCBA and FPC. During her time as HannStar she led a team of manufacturing, quality, process and mechanical engineers that developed 4 LCD projects. Patty's dedication to efficiency and design optimizations resulted in a $3M savings (5%) for cost refresh activities on 15” panels as well as exceeded ramp by achieving 95% yield within 3 months that resulted in $5M (8%) savings.
In 2014 Patty joined Microsoft in Seattle as the Senior Sourcing Manager, Microsoft Supply chain Microsoft in Seattle, Washington. Some of her duties are: Touch and Display Module (TDM) sourcing leader responsible for $1B of spend, Sourcing leader for products including Surface, Surface Hub, and Lumia smartphones. Her efforts delivered more than $100M savings in 2014.
Patty has introduced second sources and cross-functional teams to adapt dual source strategies that saved over $12M USD. She works with partner/suppliers such as Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Innolux and TPK to improve manufacturing yield and efficiencies for Surface PRO lines has yielded over $300M savings.
