Paula Egipto is an Anesthesiologist at the São João Hospital Burn Unit where she brings unprecedented skill and passion to enriching the lives of her patients. In this role, Ms. Egipto spearheads the anesthesiology for 5 room patient care in the ICU in addition to prep for the operation room procedures. After receiving her Master's degree from the ICBAS Center in San Antonio and an additional degree in Anesthesiology from St. John's, Ms. Egipto spent several years working in trauma and the ER before transitioning to the Burn Unit. A dynamic public speaker and prolific writer, Ms. Egipto was a Keynote Speaker at the Romania Conference on Burn Care Technology in 2018 and was featured in Burn Journal in 2015. She is a member of the European Society of Anesthesiology, the European Burn Association, and the International Society of Burn Care. Moving forward, Ms. Egipto hopes to provide extended anesthesiologist education for burn units in hospitals worldwide, particularly in her home country of Portugal. A passionate mentor and educator, Ms. Egipto would like to spread the burn prevention education of small children to schools worldwide as it relates to hot water, matches and electrical cords, particularly in third world countries where this information is currently sparse. In her spare time, Ms. Egipto is an avid reader and enjoys international travel and practicing tai chi.
