Associate Professor of Hematology at the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Professions, and the Assistant President for Medical and Health Affairs at AQU.
An active researcher in the fields of cancer, hematology and blood banking, and other fields of medical laboratory sciences. My main research interests focus on the genetic and epidemiology of cancer in Palestine. During my Ph.D., I was able to mount a whole platform to study Non-Hodgkin lymphoma among Palestinians focusing on genetic, viral, and environmental risk factors determining the disease. Later, I expanded the study to include Hodgkin lymphoma. I was involved in establishing the first Palestinian Job Exposure Matrix and assessing the contribution of occupational exposures in cancer risk among Palestinians.
I am also working on research studies that would improve thalassemia management in Palestine.
