Ronél Steyn is the Executive Director of Oncology and Hematology Clinical Research for Syneos Health and provide oversight of the Clinical Oncology & Hematology studies worldwide. Ronél is a healthcare business professional with over 25 years of experience. She is a trained Intensive Care Nurse who started her career in nursing in South Africa, moved to pharmaceutical & medical devices sales, then relocated to Belgium and started her clinical research career. These days she resides in the sunny Provence (France) and works from her home office She moved up the ladder from clinical research associate to her current role as executive director. She is responsible for a large portfolio of work covering all regions around the globe. In the last five and a half years she has held a leadership position in oncology clinical research, leading teams around the globe and executing oncology clinical trials successfully. Ronél's interest in clinical trials peaked when she worked as a pharmaceutical and medical device sales representative. She found her potential customers often challenged her to show them the proof the drug or device worked. She began arming herself with research and the more she did the more interested she became in doing the research herself and thus she naturally progressed into her current role. In this role, in addition to leading teams around the globe, she sets up successful trials that she also participates in and leads panel discussions. She is PMI certified and is a Six Sigma Greenbelt. She was recognized as one of the top 5 employees in the entire Covance pharmaceutical company and in the top 5%. Her goals in the next 5 years is to become a Vice President and to lead a oncology division herself. She credits her professional success to always going the extra mile and going full steam ahead because she says "my work is my life." She says the highlight of her career happens every time she and her teams turns a troubled clinical trial around. She is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
