Mrs. Bowe-Darville, Attorney-At-Law is a former President of The Bahamas Bar Association (2009-2013) and the current Managing Partner of Commonwealth Law Advocates. She was called to The Bahamas Bar in 1985 after articling in the Law Chambers of Bostwick & Bostwick. Mrs. Bowe-Darville worked as an Associate at Bostwick & Bostwick (1985 – 1990) and Graham Thompson & Co. (1990 – 1994). During 1994 -1998, Mrs. Bowe-Darville was appointed Senior Executive Assistant to Prime Minister, the Honourable Hubert A. Ingraham. She has acted as Stipendiary and Circuit Court Magistrate, served as Chairperson of the Women’s Advisory Council, Prices Control Commission and the Nursing Tribunal, sat as a member of the Judicial and Legal Services Commission, Hospital’s Licensing Authority Board, the Shop and Liquor Licensing Board, Securities Commission of The Bahamas and the Bank of The Bahamas, as well as several other non-governmental organizations and as an Associate tutor at the Eugene Dupuch Law School. Mrs. Bowe-Darville served in various capacities on The Bahamas Bar Council and, lastly, as President of The Bahamas Bar Association. Mrs. Bowe-Darville’s practice includes Civil Litigation, Family Law (divorces, child protection and child abduction, adoptions and probates), Commercial - Transactional and Banking, Real Estate, Immigration and general civil matters, and limited criminal matters. Mrs. Bowe-Darville has presented papers and lectures and written about the progress of Bahamian women and the Women’s Suffrage Movement. She was a proponent of the 2002 Inheritance Act and the Status of Children’s Act 2002. Mrs. Bowe-Darville is a very strong advocate for women’s and children’s rights. She holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in History from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and a Special Year Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies /History from York University in Downsview, Ontario, Canada.
