Personal Information
Sara Muir has over 20 years of experience in her field, and is Command Chief of the U.S. Coast Guard. She oversees all public affairs across Hawaii, Japan, Australia and the Philippines, and covers major events such as ceremonies, the arrival of ships, pollution spills, and other military public affairs.
After high school, Sara decided to enter the military, where she tested high. She is skilled in crisis communications, speech writing and media management, and holds a bachelor's degree in Communication and Public Affairs from Southern New Hampshire University.
In addition to the WAoFP, Sara is a member of the Chief Petty Officers Association of the United States Coast Guard and a Board Manager of Hawaii. She has written in other journals and media, and has received numerous awards through the military, including twice being names Communicator of the Year for the US Coast Guard. She credits her success to perseverance and the willingness to step outside her comfort zone.
