I have been very lucky to have a wide range of experiences that have contributed to the journey that my professional career has taken I have worked with children of all ages including those with ASD and other developmental needs and this love and passion for children has then led onto my work in supporting and training with adults in the last decade. I am always looking at how we can support development in the most supportive and collaborative environments. I know that nature plays a very strong central theme to my work and Forest Schools in particular internationally as well as in the UK.
For the past 13 years Sarah Blackwell has devoted herself to improving the lives of children through outdoor learning. She started Archimedes Training to work on long term projects in the UK, firstly in Urban settings and secondly with those young people who were experiencing trauma and emotional issues leading to a struggle to access an education in its normal constraints of delivery. The demands for her programs, which were unique in their formulation and underpinning philosophy led her to write a Forest Schools practitioners training course for adults to develop their professional skills and expertise in a revolutionary and soon to be an exponentially growing approach to utilizing woodlands and trees to deliver long term, life changing programs. These have developed over the years and include curriculum based courses as well as non curricular personal well being led programs in woodland and beach settings. The amazing feedback from teachers, trainers, learners and children and young people alike motivate her to continually improve and drive the programs Level 2, 3 and 4 accredited courses.
