Simone Boon (Dutch) lived since early childhood days in ever changing surroundings, such as Borneo, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Belgium, Malaysia, Austria (Vienna). Since 2004 she is based in Hong Kong. Living between east and west made her aware of the different ways in which people perceive the world around them, realizing that preconceptions, as well as understanding or misunderstanding are intertwined with the inner paradigms embedded in each of us by the culture of our upbringing. Inner Paradigms and Perception thus have become an important consideration in Simone's work in 2007 pivotally expressed in a video projection onto ceramic objects. Another interest that she explores is how life evolves over time, space and place, and despite disruption is always in transition, weaving and layering the pieces of life in a trace of fascinating patterns. Her latest project concerns human identity from a female perspective, and is related to a philosophy of becoming, taking transitions and movement as the only existing form possible. Simone's studio is in Fotan HK, but recently she set up her second studio in Amsterdam. Simone is fluent in English, Dutch and German.
