Sharon Henry-Roberts is a Senior Sergeant for Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda. She says it’s important to restore that relationship for the benefit of the society. In 2008, the force was restructured after a review found the relationship with the public to be cold and mistrustful. Serious crime appeared to be spiraling and there were increased accusations of corruption and incompetence. Royal Canadian Mounted Police were hired to lead the force and for the next two years, the public began to express more confidence in lawmen. Corporal Henry-Roberts does some speaking at workshops for women police. In the future she hopes to continue to make an impact in her field. She is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
