With over 30 years of experience in her field, Silvia Giulietti was one of the first women to occupy the roles of camera assistant, camera operator and director of photography in the Italian film industry. In these roles, she has worked with Stephen King, Franco Zefferelli, Liliana Cavani, Lina Wertmuller, Giuseppe Ferrara, Michael Lehmann, Arthur Seidelman, Jeanne Yanne, Dino Risi, Robert Boris and many other renowned directors. She had a successful career in the Italian film and television industries making feature films, TV series and TV movies for 20th Century Fox, HBO, Dino De Laurentiis, and RAI TV, among others. She was an innovator in the use HD technology and more recently, she directed and produced award winning documentaries. Silvia spent her adolescence on the sets and stages of Cinecitta in the early eighties heyday of the studio, volunteering for Renzo Rossellini’s Gaumont Italia on the production of Fellini’s City of Women and And The Ship Sails On, Liliana Cavani’s The Skin, Ettore Scola’s That Night in Varennes and Andrej Tarkovsky’s Nostalgia. She became a Cinecittà set photographer and graduated to serving as a camera assistant in Luchino Visconti’s camera team. She learned her trade from a master cinematographer of Italian neo-realism, Armando Nannuzzi, director of photography for Visconti, Pasolini, De Sica, Leone and Cavani. She was awarded the Donne nell’audivisio - Premio Afrodite for her achievement as a woman in the Italian film industry. As a director, Silvia's documentaries have won a Babel TV Sky award (2010) and have twice been in competition for David di Donatello awards (2006-2008) and in competition for Golden Globe by Foreign Press (2004-2006).
