I am a geriatric psychiatrist by training and a dementia specialist by practice, research, and consulting. My major current efforts include applied health systems research to improve dementia care quality; community activation; and mentoring medical and nursing faculty for productive careers in dementia care research.

Dr. Soo Borson is passionate about using research to improve the lives and health care of people living with dementia and their families. She leads Dementia Care Research and Consulting, offering tools and expertise to help communities and health care systems meet the special needs of people with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. As a founding member of Dementia Friendly Coachella Valley Coalition, she's part of a group of professional and community activists who develop programs and fundraising efforts to overcome the stigma and isolation of living with dementia. Dr. Borson is Past President of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, a member of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee of the Alzheimer’s Association of California/Southland, and is part of national and international workgroups focused on improving dementia health care quality. She consults to several health systems to support practice change; her goal is to develop synergies with professionals, funders, and philanthropic groups to support these grassroots efforts with data and broaden their reach.
