Simone Poetscher, PMP, is an expert in international project management who, for two decades, has been connecting people and building partnerships in Europe and North America. She initially facilitated community outreach for private businesses; then, she built alliances for university institutions. Most recently, in her role as a science diplomat, she has been directing global network engagement for government stakeholders. Simone currently serves as Director of Programs and Operations at the Embassy of Austria’s Office of Science and Technology. In that position, she manages a network of scientists whose members include Nobel laureates, C-level executives at Tech companies such as Google, and professionals at prestigious universities that include Stanford, Harvard, and MIT. Under her leadership, network membership has increased more than tenfold (+1,066%). Member satisfaction metrics have also risen, due to the introduction of new initiatives and tailoring of the support portfolio. The network has become a best-practice model for global science diasporas. In recent years, Simone has supported the Association of International Educators – NAFSA – as a proposal reviewer and judge of poster sessions. As a board member, committee chair, and volunteer, she has also shared her expertise with various non-profit organizations, including Atlas Corps and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
