Professional Women in Healthcare
21-25 Years
Suzanne Ochoa is a successful market research consultant whose background includes 15 years at Pfizer, Inc., as a Director/Team Leader, followed by 8 years on the supplier side, as a consultant to healthcare companies. Her area of expertise is marketing and market research, and understanding the right methodology for applying market research. About 7 years ago, Suzanne founded Wolf Market Research, a small boutique market research consultancy, to bring "high-touch" analytic solutions to clients. She works with two partners on very project-oriented work, and her key responsibilities involve project management, writing proposals, making presentations, and delivering project requirements. Suzanne graduated with a Ph.D. in Anthropology from New York University in 1984, and also received her MBA from NYU. While working at Pfizer she was involved with the organization Professional Women in Healthcare. Originally, Suzanne started out in Anthropology and considered an academic career, but the job market was not there, so someone suggested consumer behavior, as it was applied Anthropology, specifically the understanding of culture, and what motivates people as groups. So she got her MBA, and maintained the health and science focus as part of her career. The key to her success has been seeing how provided solutions to clients often result in exceeded expectations which has been very rewarding. Going forward, Suzanne wants to grow the business and expand into different arenas, as well. Of the 3 partners, her role is envisioning solutions and getting it done, whereas one of the other partners has natural strength in sales, so they expect to work with more people and organizations as part of their growth. Suzanne is keen to network, enhance her branding, and gain further exposure. She believes that networking is super important in every line of work, as well as maintaining connectivity, especially with so many people now working in virtual environments. The highlight of Suzanne's career thus far has been starting her small business.
