Thérèse Marie Jeanne ( Trees ) Merckx - Van Goey ( Antwerp , June 17, 1951 ) was a Flemish politician , member of the CD & V Since December 17, 2007 she is a judge in the Constitutional Court .
She studied Latin and Greek at the Dams in Antwerp . Her candidacies rights she did in Antwerp, at the University of Antwerp. She obtained her license at the Catholic University of Leuven . Afterwards she obtained a diploma in criminology. Did her internship in Dendermonde. She then worked at the Ministry of Justice , and so she came into politics . In 1985 she was elected at the age of 34 years for the Chamber of Deputies and the Flemish Council . Ten years later, in 1995 , she was elected to the first direct election of the Flemish Parliament, and she became active in local politics in Tienen. Immediately they were shifts of Finance, Self, Planning and Tourism .
In 1995 there was Merckx -Van Goey Chairman of the Committee for Welfare and Health, which was later renamed the Committee for Welfare, Health and Family. She also chaired the Committee for Economy, Employment and Social Economy.
Her interests are very varied and are in the areas of welfare, health, employment and environment . The decree proposals they submitted in the period 1995-2005 , have kids, children, family policy, and victim and drug prevention as the main themes.
On November 23, 2005 she was joined by Johan Sauwens, honored for her twenty years of parliamentary mandate with a plenary session in the Flemish Parliament .
On October 9, 2007, she was nominated by the Senate as a judge in the Constitutional Court, by the former Arbitration . Her chairmanship of the committee Economy, Work and Social Economy of the Flemish Parliament, was acquired by Piet De Bruyn ( N - VA ) . Since December 17th 2007, she is the effective judge in the Constitutional Court .
