Graduated Economist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, she holds a Master´s degree in Applied Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Verónica Artola has wide experience in public management, economic policy, planning, monitoring and evaluation. She has achieved multiple programmes in monetary policy and theory, public economy and regulation, among others. As professional experience she has worked as General Undersecretary of Planning for Good Living and General Undersecretary for Monitoring and Evaluation at the Planning and Development Secretariat, "SENPLADES"; Secretary of the National Planning Council; Mayor of Concentration´s Control at the Superintendence of Market Power´s Control. In the Central Bank of Ecuador she has held important professional duties as Chairman Board Advisor, General Manager Advisor, Director of International Banking Services and as Deputy Manager of Monetary - Financial Programming and Regulation. In the academic field, she is professor at the Economics Faculty from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador since September, 2010. She is the actual General Manager of Central Bank of Ecuador.

With over 10 years of experience at the Central Bank of Ecuador, Veronica Artola is now the General Manager and an active member of the Board of Directors. Having began her career as an economist, Veronica is uniquely equipped to bring the utmost in expertise and performance to her role. She holds her Master's of Science in Applied Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Also a dynamic speaker, Veronica regularly lectures at several universities in Ecuador on Economics and Business. In 2018, she was named Top 100 Most Influential Women in Emerging Economies to Watch in 2019 and she has been endorsed for conferment with CELD’s Global Female Leadership Impact Award (Socio – Economic Development category), and induction into the Global Women Leaders Hall of Fame (GWLHOF). Moving forward, Veronica hopes to continue to empower women through her position. When not engaged with work, she enjoys travel and is an avid reader.
