Mridula Sharma, owner and co-founder of PuroBoho.com, is a professional engineer currently pursuing her Ph.D. Being a native of Rajasthan, Northwest India, Mridula started her business as an online shop featuring handcrafted bags, accessories, shoes, and more manufactured by rural artisans from India, Columbia and Morocco. Vintage materials are imported from Pakistan and Afghanistan for women in the village to upcycle into various bags, which are brought to Europe for sale via boutiques and social media. Many of the women are the sole providers for their families.
Mridula has a M.Sc in Electrical Communication Engineering from Universität Kassel and a Bachelors of Technology in Electronics and Communication from Mody Institute of Technology and Science. She is proud to have started her own company, making a successful career change. She is a member of the Society for Women Artisans and Small Business Owners of Spain and is eager to network and share with like-minded female professionals.
Familial and cultural ties prompted Mridula to begin her current business, PuroBoho. The full line of PuroBoho apparel and accessories can be found at their website, PuroBoho.com. Her family’s native village is Rajasthan in Northwest India. She got started because her family is very connected their roots in their native village, and she feels a strong connection, too. It’s a small village of only about 10,000. She had friends at home interested in antiques, and family in the village, struggling, and felt the need for this type of art to be brought out of the villages. She contacted a manufacturer to offer training and add to the artisan population so new and traditional designs could be brought to the various customer bases. Mridula is overjoyed to bring happiness to people in her native village and around the world with her unique line of products. Her current goal is to develop the line from bags to shoes, expand to a complete boutique as well as a brick & mortar store next year starting in Malaga, Spain, and expanding from there to more locations.
Mridula can be found at home in Kassel, Germany when she isn’t busy developing her business. She looks forward to networking with business professionals and learning about business development. Her hobbies include traveling, reading, and Crossfit.
