Beatriz Rojas Peña is a Civil Mathematical Engineer for Charles Taylor Adjusting. She has been in her career field since 1980 and has been with her current company for three years. She has always worked for insurance companies and now assigns claims to the Charles Taylor company. Her role is to analyze coverage, study the claim, analyze cost and cause of the problem, create reports, recommend payment or no payment and meet with clients. Beatriz says the opportunity presented itself and she went for it and actually enjoys what she does. This job made her come out of retirement. She loves that everyday is different. Sometimes she has to go to the mines, attend meetings with different people, etc. Her expertise are in engineering, mining and energy. Beatriz has a Master’s in Mathematics and Finance Specialization in Operation Control from Universidad de Chile in 1985. She belongs to Collegio de Engerios. She taught at a university for many years, but right now she just does presentations within the company. In the next few years she hopes to teach at a local insurance school to motivate more students to go into the field, but she definitely wants to continue to work in her same company. Charles Taylor has just bought another company so there is a lot of change to come and a lot of work that will need to be done to merge the companies. She is looking forward to networking and connecting with other like-minded professionals, and to gaining the recognition and credibility of being a member.
